Do I write about cute kittens, my family, writing, writing about blogs, movies, politics, art, traveling, celebrities, AND THE LIST GOES ON! When I first started my blog I thought I had a very good idea of what I wanted to write about. I wanted to write mostly my short stories and book reviews. Then all of a sudden I wanted to write about celebrities because that seemed to get people’s attention, then about health and beauty, news posts and other things that seemed like attention grabbers. My posts were great while others would be straight up misses.
I started to get uninterested in writing because I was so focused on writing things that EVERYTHING became so unorganized and jumbled into a bowl of mush. Then I would go on other people’s blogs and literally sigh and think, “This person is a genius, How am I ever going to compete with such a perfect blog.” 🙂
I am now in the process of researching and narrowing down my blog topics to find a more realistic way to write everything I want to write about. My question is….Is it unrealistic to have a blog that has numerous topics or should it be narrowed to one type of audience?
I feel you! There are so many things I would like to write about, but find them unrelated to the topics I’ve already decided to write about. So instead, I might leave a post on facebook or something. You could just have a Random tag for things you can’t sort out but still want to share. Don’t worry about comparing yourself, be different, be you!
Thank you so much. It had got to the point once I had decided blogging wasn’t for me but I can’t stay away! 🙂 I will definitely make some changes to fit my personality.
