Friday Five Favorite Movies

Everyone that knows me know that I LOVE watching scary(ALTHOUGH I AM THE FIRST TO COVER MY EYES!) and mystery movies. It is hard to narrow them down to just five but I managed to do so somehow. 🙂 Here are my Friday five favorite movies of the week.

VHS 2– This movie released June 2013. It is about the search for a missing student. While two detectives break into the students house to find a lead they find video cassette tapes that show some horrific dark contents. They believe everything on the video could be linked to the students disappearance.  Now my brother picked out this movie and although the small voice in the back of my mind told me NOT to watch WHATEVER he choses for us to watch….I watched it anyway. THIS MOVIE HAD ME HAVING NIGHTMARES FOR A FEW DAYS!!! (Yes…nightmares!) Although it scared the living mess out of me it was too interesting to turn the movie off.

Directors: Simon Barrett, Jason Eisener, Gareth Evans, Gregg Hale, Eduardo Sanchez, Timo Tjahjanto and Adam Wingard.

Dead Silence came out March 16th 2007 and was directed and written by James Wan and Leigh Whannel (screenplay). The movie was about a widower who returned to his hometown in search for answers to his wife’s murder. It is a theory that the murder may be connected to the ghost of a murdered ventriloquist. This movie had so many twists and turns it would have literally have you guessing until the very last second of the movie. I love well written stories as such because it is not the normal “guess and get it right type of movie.”

The Conjuring was released July 19th 2013 in the U.S. The movie is directed by James Wan and written by Chad and Carey Hayes. The Conjuring is about two paranormal investigators who work to help a family who is being terrorized by a dark presence in their farmhouse. This is another well written movie. It had a few places that would make you jump nut overall the movie was a pretty interesting movie to watch.

Sinister was released in the U.S October 12th 2012. It is about a true crime writer who finds a cache of 8mm home movie films that suggest the murder he is currently researching is the work of a serial killer. It all takes a turn when his family is the new obsession of the killer. This is another movie that had me on edge at night. BUT it is a great movie and I love how everything ties together in the end. This movie was written and directed by Scott Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill(writer)

Insidious 1 & Chapter 2 Okay. Okay Technically these are two movies BUT I feel you should watch the first one to REALLY enjoy the second one. The first movie is about a family who looks to prevent evil spirits from keeping their son comatose in a realm called The Further. This movie was released in April 2010. Three years later in September the second chapter was released. This was a continuance of the family seeking the mysterious childhood secret that left them dangerously connected to the spirit world. I LOVE THESE MOVIES!!!! How the writers connected everything so smoothly together was amazing! There were events in part one that seemed quite normal until you watch part two and you see that the normal even was just the opposite of that. If you haven’t seen these movies then SHAME ON YOU. 🙂 But seriously if you are into movies that are written with amazing twists and turns and will keep you guessing the entire time then go and get these outstanding movies.
